Details of Hotline fixes/technical service bulletins/recalls

What were your warranty claims and recall information

SO i mentioned my decrease in fuel economy at my 15k service, they said they cleaned the air filter and flushed out the fuel filter, said that my fuel economy should be back to normal. Well i have just been through my first tank of fuel since the service and the fuel economy is not back to normal.

The thing that seems strange about all of this is that it has dropped by roughly 50km per tank EXACTLY. I would normally be in the ball park of 720-730km when my fuel light came on, i am now in the ball park of 670-680km when the light comes on. I do pretty consistent driving. 90% of the time. Same route to and from work 5 days a week, and most of the time it doesnt do much on the weekend, so my fuel economy results have been pretty stable since i bought it. Having such a precise increase in fuel usage is very strange.

Any thoughts ???

(CD i forgot to ask them to do a SQL  , think it is worth taking it in and asking them to do one?)

Who flushes out a fuel filter?

I assume you're measuring economy at the pump and not relying on the trip computer alone?

hvac, shall check the papers when i get home, but i had a quick read and didnt notice an SQL listed.

CD, i thought it a very strange fix for decreased fuel economy, but i am no mechanic so i took his word for it.

correct, i have the GLX so do not have the display that tells me usage per 100ks while driving. i normally set my trip meter everytime i fill up, then when i refill i record the amount of fuel it takes to fill the tank. I then use the trip reading and the amount of fuel to calculate the per 100k reading.

I had my challenger done for the overheat recall problem when i got it back 2 weeks ago it drove very bad;
holds throttle on for quite a while after changing gears (.25-.5 sec)
throttle raises sometime when changing gears after letting of throttle
not responsive
low boost(or really slow throttle response)
fuel economy worse.

I had it back there today for change to a tailshaft yoke that was leaking;

they tested the parameters of ecu apprrently; nothing worng. except they found my EGR blanking plate! so apprently this was the cause. Oh and my mechanic didnt adjust the tappets at the 30k service. they pointed it out to me because it is still original gasket goo. (i dont see how the tappets need adjusting every 30k but please correct me).

Its still terrible to drive and really frustrates me! and if i had known i wouldnt have done it.

The proper service regime requires valve clearance adjustments. Some models it was every 30,000 and newer ones are now every 45,000.

Well almost a year later I'm going to reply to the above post ^^^ and say yes you missed one, MN21-0001

Oh well there were only 260 odd posts to wade through. I've updated the first post now. Also searched the whole forum for the words "hotline fix" and picked up a couple more.

Don't mind me, I'm just going to talk to myself a bit for a minute here...

From another forum (pajero club I think it was):

Checked for SRS light on, found code B1441. Found poor contact which creates an increased resistance in connector terminals due to improper caulking of pin terminals.
Requires replacement of floor and roof harness as per Hotline fix MN 52-001.
Code erased and didn't come back. PNC 83902, PNC 83129

Hey guys, First post today. Just wondering about the MN recalls. Is it year specific on those cabin/floor/roof harness air bag warning lights? My airbag lights been on since i bought my rig and I recently had it in for the indicator recall and the mechanics stated that i needed new harnesses for the roof and sub floor. shes a 2011. It's been annoying the crap outta me so they removed the light. Help on this appreciated.

Hey guys. Just thought id share for those experiening oxidation in there paint.
Took my WHITE MN today with an oxidating bonnetm got a call 2 hours later informing me there is now a Hotline out for this issue.
My understanding is, mitsubishi will trying it with there compound fix, and from what ive been told if it reappears they will then have a panel beater fix it.

Question on hotline fixes

Postby Seana on Sun Jan 20, 2019 7:07 am

So back story is I've decided to keep my MN for another couple of years, was seriously considering selling it and moving to something else. But given I'm in a bit of a lifestyle transition phase (and didn't really want to part with $30K right now) I've opted to breathe some new life into the old girl (MN GLX-R 2010 with 190K).

Since my fuel economy has gone to hell I've decided just to replace the manifold; $380 with gaskets and new hose (parts only) didn't seem too bad. I do have the EGR blanked but will also install a catch can, something I should have done when I first purchased the car. The paint is also terrible, delaminating on the roof and bonnet, so might get that resprayed as well and keep her for another 2 years.

I've just gone through and read (re-read more like it) the thread on hotline fixes. Looks like a lot of these might apply to me, and some actually are faults I had and took into my dealer at various times, usually with the reply 'no fault found'.

So my question; my car is clearly out of warranty, are the hotline fixes only something that is charged for, or free? Does it depend on warranty status?

One example of the knocking in the steering column; I've had this ever since I can remember, I see it is a hotline fix (now). I had it in to be looked at under warranty and was told it's probably just the steering boot sticking and to spray some silicon on it.. obviously did nothing.

Cheers
Sean
