I cant answer that as i dont know :p. I have the actuator but havent tried the above process yet

what version/model do you have scott?

GLX/GLX-R, super select/easy select, diff lock???

I did this with an 09 ML GLX manual with no diff lock & easy select 4x4

If you have the same as me, are competent with electrics & feel confident to try it then it's your call.

i didnt read back too far as I have not been on for a week, am trying to get thru the ship load of new posts & as scott has no shed profile was not too sure.

I dont recall the setup on the 2010 model so someone else may need to chime in

It's all good mate, I had to read nearly all his posts to find that. I was just trying to help the discussion along but as you say that will now require one of the MN modders to come along and provide extra info.

Iv got a 2010 glx manual, no diff lock and Im not 100% sure about if it's super select/easy select or not, is there a simple way to check?

pretty sure all GLX's were easy select.

Super select has 4 options/positions on the transfer lever whereas the easy select only has 3.

Mines easy select then, 2H, 4H and 4L options

So does that mean this mod will work?

Gave it a shot and successfully performed the switch mod of the controller unit on a 2010 GLX easy select manual without diff lock. So 2wd low range is now possible.
There's a few changes from the original post of the mod however,
The black and white power wire is pin 2
The violet wire is pin 8.
These two changes must be a slight difference between 2009 and 2010 models.

Yeah I didn't want to go hacking the loom up just incase the wire colour had changed, not the pin location

I then mounted the switch into one of the blanks next to the cig socket above the gear levers, looks quite factory in that location.

Big thanks though Snooozy for posting this mod in the first place! Iv been screwing around and struggling to get my trailer reversed up my driveway at the new house for two weeks and just pushing it the last bit by hand this will help a tonn!!

Hey folks, I have an April 07 ml with the factory diff lock

It can only be activated when in 4wd
Any way I can make it work in 2wd

I'm assuming the switch is powered by the 4wd switch, in which case I could just run 12 to the switch to switch it whenever I want regardless of 2 or 4wd, anyone know anything about it be for either do the hard yards? Haha

Note that in the platinum thread there was additional discussion which if I recall correctly took these sorts of things up into some of the MN models.

There was also another recent platinum thread which took things in a new direction re disabling ASC/ABS etc in the MNs which might be worth a look for the clues it might shed on these issues generally.
