By this I just mean the original gasket from Mits....I'll somehow figure out how to make it from steel and not put a hole in it

Any takers on sending the Mits gasket?

Homer,
I could send you the template I made on a piece of paper for mine but it's the 2.5 of course. It looks exactly the same but is mounted on the opposite side of the engine with the exhaust fed across to it.
If you do get some made I would agree with the comment about leaving the 2 ears off the new one and fitting it with the old gasket so it looks the same. Stainless would be better, same as the existing gasket[I think] and no more than 1mm so it's hard to spot and doesn't alter the angle/seating of the top and bottom faces. Although the 3.2 does appear to have a flexible link in the pipe that might compensate? No flex on the 2.5 and the reason I had to at least loosen the top connection to get the bottom gasket out.
If they measure the same could you put me down for one to replace mine cos it wasn't quite perfect.

Could not for the life of me get the red circled bolt undone...

Even with a 12" breaker bar and an L1A1 breaker bar extension handle - for fear of snapping the bolt I stopped and blanked it on top of the heat exchanger...

I'd still be up for a gasket though as I won't let this beat me...

OK guys, I think we're talking two different things here.

If someone sends me a genuine Mitsubishi GASKET (I don't have a diesel so can't do it and I'm supplying free blank plates, so I'm not buying a gasket too) I will get steel or maybe stainless steel blank plates cut out without the tangs/ears and send them to you.

I don't have high temp gaskets so you will have to do your own thing with sealing the flange.
I have heard people splitting the original gasket (which I must say surprised me as I didn't think it would split easily or neatly).
And others just using sealant on one side (which also surprised me).
I would buy two original gaskets and seal it that way, but that is just me.

I also don't think the Mits service department even look near the EGR so chances of getting busted are next to nil and if you specify not to do any extra work unless authorized, they can't remove it to see what's there and will only see a thicker, dirty, oily, smelly, diesely gasket. Couldn't help myself ;)

First I need to know thickness. I would assume 0.5mm would be plenty, but am open to consensus.

Then I guess we will do a who wants one thing, but I need a gasket volunteer first.

Blue - i had the same problem i split 2 sockets ends.. Ended up using my old mans socket set he has a long bar that offers plenty of leverage and finally got it off.. It was the same story last week with the work Triton...

I'd volunteer mine as I have the 'tard to get to work on BUT..........as above, I can't get the bastard out...

I was using a 6 sided socket Patto so splitting wasn't on my mind - access is the biatch with the clutch res in the way...

Blackwoods have it.

Spray it on tonight and undo the bolt in the morning with a 4 inch shifter. Never seen a better product for that purpose. Had a bit of a rave about some time ago in tips and tricks.

Worth getting and only using when WD40 etc fail.

I used a ring spanner and levered it across towards the firewall using a bar, and was able to undo that tight bitch bolt. I did loose a bit of skin tho in the fitting process. There are some razor sharp edges down in there so be carefull...

Its my second day driving it today with the Blanked of egr... So much nicer now. Zero lag. The rpm below 2500 is where its at when boosting..

ok how about this proposal. :P

Looks like there will be 10+ takers for this EGR blanking plate at least.

ok so Homer has offered to get something laser cut for us (i assume he knows someone who drinks and has a laser cutting thingy) which with these quantities is a far better way than someone manually cutting them out.

Postage will be trivial i would expect for a single plate.....so if we all throw in $10-$15 bucks that should cover the material and a case of beer wouldn't it?

can we agree on 0.5mm stainless?

homer you up for it?

....just need to find a gasket to trace...... :?:
