I have a 08/2013 GLX+ 4 speed auto.( Yes, it has carpet and alloy's....WooHoo
).
I tow a 1200 kg camper-trailer, with all the 350 nm of torque (factory quoted), which I was about to do tomorrow on my way to Rainbow Beach.
The torque converter, locked and unlocked all the time when using cruise control, but with judicious use of the go peddle (and no cruise) I could keep it locked.
For what it's worth now, and knowing what I know now, I would NEVER of bought a Triton, it just does not suit the purpose that it was advertised ( 3 tonne towing capacity, PPHHAATT). But I have 1 and I'm stuck with it...
Sssoooo.... How do I make it user friendly?
I have a ScanGauge 2. As I was reading through this thread, it was explained how to programme an "X" gauge for tranny temps. SSSWWWEEETTT!!!! It is 2200 hrs (10:00 pm for you none military types
) and I am 3/4 under the weather, (damm you Wild Turkey, I hate/love you so much
) so I download the scangauge manual and go out to the afore mentioned vehicle. It was as easy as 1,2,3, and blow me over with a feather, it worked first time
.
I have also neglected to mention that on this very same day I went and had chip installed. It was a Stein... It was a injector modifying type chip, ( I'm a little under the weather right now
, but NOT stupid enough to start that argument....Again!!!
)
However... On the Dyno, and in 4 wheel drive it produced...wait for it
, 350nm at the wheels.
So of I/ we went to rainbow beach.
The car actually pulled the camper without so much as a struggle and the torque convertor stayed LOCKED. I watched the Tranny Temp gauge and it stayed on 78 deg c. Did not move, however if I let it unlock and work as normal, the temp would rise, immediately to 100 deg c and water temp would be around 105 deg c. Between cruise control and and little judicious use of the GO peddle if required, the Triton could now tow my Camper and not be troubled.
