Airbag Warning Light

Re: Airbag Warning Light

Does anyone know the part number for the ML clockspring? My airbag light just came on at 100k. Have been experiencing intermittent cruise control problems which unfortunately resulted in the cruise control stalk getting broken due to a bad temper. Have replaced that and now I'd say the clocksping is gone. Out of warranty and my local stealer are idiots so will do it myself if I can track the part down.

Mine came on yesterday on my way home from the Top End - Waiting to Monday when the car goes in for a very overdue service to get the codes read but I suspect the clock spring (08 ML)

Just checked on Partsouq.com and the springs are available for about $130 USD plus postage ($15 USD) - How does this compare with locally sourced springs? (Works out to be roughly $194 AUD)

NOTE - these a genuine OEM parts

I've ordered off them several times and they are usually quicker and cheaper than from the local dealers.

I had my mechanic check and rest code yesterday - It came up as Passenger Side Seat Belt Pre-Tensioner error - something to do with the wiring?

Can the clock spring cause this error or do I have to look further?

no that one is unlikely to be the clockspring.

I regularly get the same error with mine. Stays on until I take it in for something and they reset it. Anyone know how to fix this yourself?

My airbag light just came on, dealer diagnosed roof and floor harness needs replacing. $450 was the best they could do, does this seem ok price.

I'd push for a warranty claim as this is a really well-known issue now. You can't be far out of the original 5 year warranty?

I agree with Kevin, it was clearly faulty from day 1. Not a consumable item, doesn't get maintained or serviced and so on and so forth. They may come back and call it goodwill but at the end of the day they sold you a faulty product. If they crap on about the warranty ask them how what they're saying fits with the statutory warranty? They'll look at you blankly at which point it is probably time to have it referred up to MMAL.

in the book it says srs air bag and or seat belt pre tensioner
tried playing with the seat belts etc and only thing I have done new is put the engal in the back seat

Hi mate the airbag warning light is the one that comes on when you turn the ignition on. It is just above the open door warning light on the instrument cluster. The one on the left of the aircon dials tells you if the passenger airbag has been de-activated. You de-activate it from inside the glove box with your key.

Did you encounter any yellow plugs when fiddling with the Engel? Interfering with one of them will earn you a light like that.

If you didn't cause it then in an mn it may be a faulty loom. If an ML then possibly a clock spring issue.

You won't be able to clear the code without specialised equipment I'm afraid.

Just for info. My 2010 MN is 10 months out of warranty and Mitsubishi is covering 100% of parts and labour to fix the airbag harness problem.

On my way to the Cape and first dirt road (Bloomfield Track) the airbag light comes on. Will have to drop into Mitsubishi when I get back. Well out of the 5 yr warranty km wise but only 3 years old so will see what they say.

Hi guys I have a 2011 MN Triton with 104 *** kms, and have just encounted the dreaded SRS Airbag warning light. I haven't been to a local mechanic yet to check what the code is but will be before heading to a dealer/stealer? What are my options as I still have a few months of warranty left and do the dealers actually fix the issue or will I end up visiting the one dealer 2-3 times before it is properly dealt with?

Depends on the dealer and how quickly the code comes back after they clear it the first time.

it's a known problem mate if you still have warranty then take it to the dealer and they will sort it, I had the same model as you and just recently had mine done no problems, shouldn't cost you a cent and I also got a loan car for the day

Floor and/or roof harness. Some dealers will reset the code and wait for it to come back before doing the work. Others will just book it in straight away. Just make sure you get it on the books before the end of warranty to avoid future arguments about timing.

from memory it was part of the roof harness, but apart from a few dirty fingerprints around the door and a little bit of solder on the floor mat I couldn't see any damage as a result which I was happy about, they had the car for the day to do it
