Closing the EGR Valve *check first post for links*

Re: Blocking the EGR

Postby NowForThe5th on Tue Jul 12, 2016 5:05 pm

Merged. Better to keep all EGR related discussion in one place.

As far as I can tell, that article is mostly irrelevant to diesels, particularly direct injection common rails, such as we have. There is no vacuum (why we need a vacuum pump) and mixture (AFR) is controlled by the ECU. The gumph about throttle angles and fuel economy relates only to petrols. As pointed out above, we don't block or disable the EGR for power - just to save the manifolds from blocking up and reducing efficiency.

Like L200Shogun I say.....tl:dr.

Anyone had any experience with these? Price is pretty amazing and looks similar to the chipit and other local options.

Seems to be alot of peo are doing an egr blank/tonys mod, as well as a catch can.
I was under the impression if you did the egr blank, there shouldn't be anything feeding back into the catch can to filter...
Is this correct?!?

The EGR close off just means no soot to combine with the oil vapour.

Is Tony still around does anyone know? Without reading 100 pages I'm pretty damn certain the best EGR mod is tonys and I'd like to buy one.

Gday. Just wandering if anybody is using more diesel with EGR delete module? I bought a plug n play egr delete module from kpd 4x4. The thing works. 0% flow according to ultraguage but ultraguage also says im also using close to double the fuel.

That shouldn't be happening. Something wrong with the unit or your gauge. Is it also using more fuel in real terms, like you're noticing the difference as opposed to seeing what's on the ultragauge?

And is the ultragauge giving you instantaneous or average measurements?

If it is in fact using twice the fuel I'd send it back.

Is it a munji branded unit or something else?

My fuel economy slightly improved. Nothing significant, just seeing more tanks better than 11km/L (9L/100km).

https://www.kpd4x4.com/plug-in-egr-dele ... on-2.5-3.2

Its this one here. Crisp mods. Yeah the average is going up but i can certainly tell by the intantaneous. For example theres an 80km/h straight bit of road on the way to work. I can cruise along there with instantaneous about 8,9,10 while sitting on 80. With the module in i can on get it down to 17,18,19.

Red dragin is that with same kpd module?

Hey guys

Tried to do a bit of searching before posting but couldn't really find anything

Onbiously tony is offline at the moment but really want something to turn off egr so I can clean manifold in the coming weeks

Are there alternatives? I've found this on google
https://munji.com.au/products/4d56-mn-c ... sel-engine

Anyone used them?

Also I have a plug and play chip installed, wondering if these egr modules will work with them

Cheers

If it's just a few weeks I'd wait until Tony's back, rather tha go with one of the copies, some of which have caused problems in the past.

No issues with the EGR module and a performance chip.

OK,

Out of all the modules here to close the EGR what are peoples boost change.

I had the Crisp mod unit and lost power. Maximum boost pressure lowered dramatically.

Sold the module.

Sounds like that unit you had may have been wired incorrectly and mucked up the air mass sensing grey'tn.

I installed the resistor in my son's mn a few months back and boost is fine.
