GreyTriton has a MQ and had an issue with the Crispmods unit. Tony said the MQ works differently to the ML/MN.

Its this one here. Crisp mods. Yeah the average is going up but i can certainly tell by the intantaneous. For example theres an 80km/h straight bit of road on the way to work. I can cruise along there with instantaneous about 8,9,10 while sitting on 80. With the module in i can on get it down to 17,18,19.

Red dragin is that with same kpd module?

Also got the CrispMods unit and have noticed the Ultragauge AVG and Instantaneous economy rising. Waiting till the next fill to confirm the actual usage but have gone from 12.1L/100Km to 13.9L/100Km (all city driving).

That sounds like bad news. That said I think city driving is probably too inconsistent to perform a reliable economy test.

Follow up now that I've emptied and refilled the tank. Even though the Avg Fuel Use was was around 14L / 100KM, the actual usage was 11.9L. It seems the Ultragauge just needed to be calibrated.

Hi all, I've spent tonight searching and reading a few threads here and couldn't find an answer to a question that a friend asked me today, he said he knew that the cylinder temps are higher with a blocked egr but how much hotter? I had no idea so I thought I'd ask, he's pro egr which is his choice but seems to think I'm doing more harm than good in the long run. Any info appreciated

Yes, it's a good idea to replace the inlet manifold gaskets. They are available from Mitsubishi for a surprisingly good price.

Was informed there's an update for my ecu on the ml to do with egr - supposedly to reduce soot/sludge production.

Just wondering what effects this has had on performance and economy where anyone has had this done?

My unit hasn't been mutted for over 4yrs so don't want any detrimental updates.

I've recently installed a Munji cable. I'm convinced that my car is less responsive than it was before the cable.
But the main thing is that when I'm cruising at 60 or 80km/h and my foot is on the gas pedal just enough that I'm maintaining that speed, the engine is a lot noisier. It sounds like when you first drive your car in the morning and the engine is cold. It has that gritty noise to it. However when I took the cable off and cruised at 60 or 80, there was no noise.
Thoughts?
I guess what I should've done is tested it with cruise.

The engine takes quite a bit longer to warm up from cold once the egr is blocked / not in operation. .. are you sure it was warmed up properly?

Definitely - the temp gauge was where it normally sits once fully warmed up. I was driving for at least 30 minutes, going 100 down the freeway.

How much longer should I expect it to take compared to without EGR?

What about it feeling more sluggish than normal?

You have an MN? Like all fault finding remove the cable and see if the noise disappears.

I have a SPVi cable in a MN and my engine is quiet.

Yep 2013 MN. Feels slower to take off with cable on as well.
Yeah I mentioned above that I removed it and the noise wasn't apparent when cruising at those speeds again.
Not sure what the go is.

Same here
seems to run better without the cable
running a dp chip don't know if the makes a difference with the cable
also running oil catch can

Yeah no idea mate. Had a talk to the company and they said that it's possible that my intake is so blocked up (it has never been cleaned and has done 90,000kms) that once the module blocked the EGR valve off, it had even more reduced airflow since it was only receiving air through the snorkel/air intake and not through the EGR anymore. In other words, total air flow without EGR open is < total air flow with EGR open.
Not sure how true that is or whether it is playing a role in the noisier acceleration and cruising.

Not sure either only know I had a blanking plate put in a about 20,000km
then when the egr mod cable came out got one straight away put on and took blanking plate out not long after that put on oil catch can
only know with cable on
feels slower in take of and have to put foot down harder to accelerate
has a flat spot
and makes no difference to the noise level
and seems to be on difference to fuel
take cable off
car punches it from take of
no lag or flat spot
no difference to noise level

I agree with the slower in take off. I feel like I have to press down a lot more to accelerate to the speed I want. Just feels sluggish. Mind if I ask which cable you got?

Have you checked the hoses involved with the turbo gate actuator?

VGT setups are a bit more complex than the basic waste gate on the ml.

"Engine gets more air when egr open" - egr let's in exhaust gas - won't add to combustion!

its from crisp mods for mn
plug and play should not have to check any thing else
in saying that if I remember right when munji first advertised the cable if I remember right I think they did say that with the mn you should get the care returned when after you put the cable on

If you're experiencing lack of performance with EGR module plugged in then it's definitely not working correctly.

You should be getting better overall performance especially whilst cruising. Easy way to check that it's working is with an Ultragauge or similar obd device... Should show 0% egr and 99 - 100% tp if working correctly.

If not? I recommend watching these detailed YouTube instructions on how to fix these sorts of problem. https://youtu.be/e9OTZCRI2H8
