Maximum boost from standard turbo

Postby braydenc on Sat May 12, 2018 2:50 pm

Hey, everyone, I did try searching this but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for,

If you follow my channel I recently got the triton tuned with a Chip it chip and custom dyno tune, Now I'm wondering what these little turbos can take does anyone know a safe boost that they can do consistently now I know someone will say upgrade the turbo and I am going to but for now this is what I have and I'm wondering what its tolerances are in the long term.

thanks for the replies in advance

Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Anything past their 18-22 range will obviously reduce it's life - Charge pipes will pop at 25 if your lucky. If you have access to the Platnium Lounge I'm sure most of this info with relevant user experiences.

My MN my15 is a tortured beast. Towing 2.5T daily for work with a led foot. Blown one gearbox from too much torque while downshifting - I brake exlusively since then and only starting to hear the traction contol kicking in ( have aftermarket slotted discs and pads, bradied lines and 33".

I was running tune 7 with a constant 35 psi thanks to a dawes valve. The SCV had stated giving out especailly after heavy load -overtaking 80km/h + ) so I added 600ml of 2T mineral every four tanks of BP Ult D. Now on tune 10 and no power issue anywhere. I take as much care of the gearbox now as I can, to minimise stress.

Thanks SLI so for example If I decided to run 26 PSI with out being a hoonigan I would assume to be alright.

You need to look at compressor map for your turbo . More boost isn't always a good thing.
Also need to stop over boost faults,
