Hi , just wanted to share my experience with the SRS system and a scanner that will work.
Airbag light on a week ago, scanner would not delete, so assumed an active fault. Both side bags and LH curtain showing open circuit. Logically to have three simultaneous faults is unlikeley and most probably a connector or harness fault.
Removed seats, console, to gain access to SRS computer. All plugs coloured yellow, including RH kickcover.removed ,cleaned with crc contact cleaner.
Do not turn on ignition with plugs removed. It is ok to remove seats and plugs, but once again do not turn on ignition.
Best to read SRS servicing precautions and remove negative battery lead. Made up three dummy resistors soldered to 6 fine dressmakers pins. 3.3 ohm 5watt. Gently inserted into seat plug(loom back to computer) and at terminal 1 and 2 rear connector of plug C153.(left plug at computer, top two left pins at plug rear) This has now effectively put in place 3 dummy airbags for when the computer does its 7 second diagnostic. prior to this I have ascertained that the side (seat) wiring shows continuity back to the computer.
Reconnect the battery and plugging in my CRP123 scan tool showed the faults were now listed as" stored". The launcCRP123 will read the codes but will not delete them. The hallalluyah moment came when I decided to change countrys in the menus, then choose Triton 2010 under JAPAN not Australia. Airbag light was then deleted. Remove dummy resistors, replace seats and all plugs and retest again with scan gauge. All good, light remains off.
The reason inserting the dummy resistor into the the back of the side curtain plug at the computer is to avoid unnecessary hoodlining removal if the fault turns out to be wiring or plugs at floor level in the vehicle .
