I spoke to Powerdown today about there Raw 4x4 suspension kit. it's in the testing stages and very close to being released.. it's 45mm lift but they are doing them for auto transmission triton's only due to the vibration people are experiencing with lifted manuals.
They are getting back to me tomorrow about a price to get it fitted.
I'm looking at the RAW kit now now. My local 4wd/diesel mechanic has had a RAW kit on his ML for a while. He's very happy on road and in the bush. The shocks are huge. Powerdown have done truck shocks for years and have a good name, now they're their revalving these big shocks for Fourbies.
Guy's Just a word of caution, if anyone thinking of getting the more super exotic and rare brand suspension upgrades,
Consider back up IE warranty, service agents and availability of parts, because if it goes wrong it'll be a long way from help and purchase point most likely.
i've been qouted $1466 to get a 30mm EFS kit fitted - would it be possible to use the snake racing shackles and strut spacers to get around 50mm lift with the EFS suspension???
You will end up with more than 50mm with the strut spacers and extended shackles.
the 25mm strut spacer gives you approx. 30-33 mm of lift and the 35mm spacer gives you 45-50mm lift.
This is because you are not doing a direct 1:1 lift its 1:1.25 approx.
because of the angle of the two front suspension arms and the position of the front strut when you add a spacer it is multiplied by the time it gets to the wheels.
The rear extended shackles are 70mm long and give you 50mm of lift because they sit on an angle.
Just a word of warning it is not advisable to lift IFS more than 50mm as when you do go higher than 50mm (approx) the angle of the CV joints and other components are such that it causes alot of strain on these compnents and they are likely to fail prematurely.
To lift IFS more than 50mm check out the kits for the NAVARA and Hilux. the kits actually reposition the axels and re align all components to original factory angles. But Kits like this cost $4000 and up.
hey what are peoples thoughts of placing a spacer between the upper control arm and ball joint to increase upper bump stop clearance. My CV joints aren't at a major angle so i would be happy improving the upper bump stop clearance.
I altered my bump stop on my 1997 jackaroo years ago lowing it 10mm and never had any problems with CV joints not lasting and it was 70mm lift at the rear 60mm at the front plus 32s.
exRevHead, if you ring 1300 4WD FIX ask for Blair he has the RAW lift kit on his own ML ute ask him his opinion directly. (He's in Vic so won't be trying to flog it to you)
Spoke to an RTA tech bloke the other day in regards to tyres and suspension mods in NSW and he said that any suspension lifts over 25mm should be engineered ( i think ) , you can widen your track by no more than 26mm, and you cant change your tyre width by more than 20mm. Will try and find where i saved the spec sheet and put it in the tech section.
I'm only going to tell NRMA about the changes so I've still got insurance on the beast.

I'm guessing if this is the kit your going for, he is pretty happy with it.
Selling a part may not be illegal but how it is used such as fitting it could be. Insurance will always take your premium but when a claim goes in they can reject anything not legal.
