Hi, newbie from Sydney with in dash overheating reading

Sorry not a big talker, great forum though, thanks newtriton.net for the add :)
Now for some research, got an overheating issue after getting electric brakes fitted, so far have replaced;
thermostat
radiator cap
water pump
timing belt
drive belt
drive belt idler tensioner pulley
radiator (with new radiator cap)
engine temp sender
waiting for timing belt tensioner to arrive to install (pull it all apart again  )
Noticed a few fuses blown (cig and 12v) when i got it back from electric brake install, had technician have a look and under bonnet temps are ok (live scan tool reading) but in dash still reading high :?
Not much info out there for the 3.5ltr V6
any ideas?

Mate just a couple of queries. By the under bonnet temp do you mean the coolant temp or ambient temp?
By dash temp do you mean the bar graph opposite the fuel guage bar graph in the centre or the or the temp in numbers at the bottom of the dash.

under the bonnet - coolant temp reading using digital infrared thermometer
dash temp - bar graph below fuel gauge

That's because not much goes wrong with them.

Get hold of an OBD scan tool and you'll be able to read the actual temperatures from the sensors in the engine. In dash instruments are notoriously inaccurate in any vehicle, not just the Triton. Once you have real readings you can then decide whether it is a problem worth chasing further.

The other thing that comes to mind is that in fitting an electric brake unit some work has to be done around the brake pedal and the switches that it actuates. Double check that connections are made correctly and that pedal movement is as it should be. Wouldn't be the first time that such an installation has resulted in slight brake actuation which would put enough of an extra load on to drive temperatures up a bit.

Welcome to the forum.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

good to hear 8-)

OBD used, live readings say not overheating, didn't get to 100?
want to be able to trust the temp gauge in dash especially when towing!

will double check the electric brake pedal installation

thanks for the feedback :)

PROBLEM SOLVED :D

Had an anderson plug fitted by same tech that did the electric brakes (rechecked), must of been a bad earth as temp hasn't moved over 1/2 way since getting it back over a week ago!

Happy days, on another note got a whole new cooling system including the viscous fan clutch and bracket and drive belt tensioner to be fitted when they arrive!
