After over six years of waiting I finally fitted some new seatcovers. :)
Had a look at Supafit covers at the 4x4 show a few months back & decided on the denim material.

Were they hard to put on? They look pretty tight?

the headrests were tight but the main cover wasn't too bad.

Just ordered a set for the wife's Outlander. She was happy with the colour & fabric of mine.

The denim is much softer & more comfortable than the canvas and being cotton breathes better than many other materials.

Suspension update

Got the tape measure out again today.
A bit over 9 months after fitting, so well & truly settled.

FL ...565 down 5mm
FR ...573 down 7mm
RL ...603 down 3mm
RR ...614 down 3mm
As with previous measurement, it was with a full fuel tank.

very pleased with the results. :)

That pic was while I was building the tank, before I fitted the plumbing.

The outlet is also the inlet, just hook up the hose & fill till it comes out the breather.

about 16lts usable.

It will last us ( 2 people) about 2 weeks, use it mainly for hand washing.

being an ML I have less room than those with an MN. MN owners should be able to make it a bit bigger, I would guess about 20lt.

Just remember, 20lts is 20kg hanging behind the wheels, so effectively even heavier by time you consider the leverage effect.
This is important when you are counting the kilos for rear axle weight & potential chassis issues.

As stated in another thread, canopy side window exploded for no real reason yesterday.

I happened to be about 20mts away & saw it happen. sun directly overhead, temperature in the low 20's. Has been fitted for just under 4 years.

Have another one on order & will replace it next weekend.

This is the first time I have heard of a side window going like this. Just unlucky I guess.

Some time ago I got Mattz's old catalytic converter/dump pipe so I could get a fitting welded in for the EGT gauge I fitted a while ago.

I finally did the job today after a bit of hesitation when hearing stories of others that broke studs off in the turbo housing.

After a phone call to Mattz to find out a couple of recommendations/tips I got stuck into it.

remove the engine cover, airbox, catch can, jack up the front & remove the RH wheel, sprayed all the necessary bolts/studs with freeze release spray & left it for a while. Removed the short pipe from converter to exhaust. That was the easy stuff done.

The first 2 dump pipe bolts were very tight but came out with some careful persuasion on a long breaker bar.
The top inner nut was not quite so easy but it eventually came loose also.

As always, there is one that will give you trouble & the last nut did not come easily. The only way to get to this one is via the wheel arch after dis-connecting the steering link.

There is no space for a socket, so a ring spanner was the only option. I didn't have a spanner long enough to get the required force so went to seek help from a mechanic neighbor, he was able to use an extension to get the leverage. Eventually this one came loose also.


To say I was relieved was an understatement, so far nothing broken but a bit of skin.

The re-install went smoothly & by late afternoon I was ready for a test.

around the streets I could barely break 300deg, so I took it out on the open road to give it some stick. Highest temp I could get was 550deg & that was pushing the motor pretty hard but staying under 100kmh.

While I had the airbox out I also took the opportunity to re adjust the wastegate arm for a bit more boost, now getting about 16-18psi. quite noticeable.

I will see how it goes for a week and note the temperatures, then I will flick the switch & turn the chip back on. I have not run the chip for some time due to not being able to monitor the gas temps. It will be interesting to see if I can go up a tune or two & get a bit more from the trusty 3.2

you havent tried hard enough if you didnt get any claret :lol: :lol: :lol:

easy on the 'old' there coughy. ;)
not over the hill yet :lol:
I'm not fond of pain, so try to avoid spilling claret. only a few scrapes.

It will be nice to have the chip power back, at least I will have peace of mind now I can see what's happening.

Mine went in similar circumstances
I had slight pressure on the window, and went through a temp change
Hot day and it started to rain- bang

I replaced with my alloy maxtrax mount

Once you have another window, it is actually pretty easy to change out/ swap around (10min max) but I have never bothered

It's been a while since I have done any upgrades, but

After 92,000km I decided the brakes must be getting low so decided to go all out & get some new discs also.
The OEM have lasted me well. Discs have never been machined either.

After some good reviews by other members I went with DBA slotted 4x4 T2 & Bendix 4x4 pads

The rears are getting low but I will make them last a bit longer.

Much better pedal feel & braking performance. Already had the braided brake lines fitted so other than the rears in the next few months I should be good for another few years.

They go well, I fitted mine at 90,000 and now at 170,000 something they are nearly due again.
Will be pads only, the discs are still perfect.

there was some chat on Facebook saying that they increase pad wear.

Lucky I don't rely on FB too much for accurate information.
