Flexible Flywheel Machining?

Postby cheapsmokes on Wed Apr 28, 2021 7:32 pm

Hey guys!
Does anyone know if the flexible flywheel from a 4D56 MN 4x4 can be machined?

Transmission blew up and ripped it out and thought I'd do the clutch while I'm at it but can't find any specs about this so called 'flexible flywheel' that Mitsubishi threw onto these motors.

I've been told by a Mitsi tech that you don't machine these flywheels and if the burn marks are bad enough you just replace it but replacement flywheels are hard to come by or expensive as hell!

Any tips or insights are greatly appreciated!

Just got my car back with a new engine fitted and got a new HD clutch installed from the dealer and my receipt has flywheel machine cost on there, so you should be able to get the flywheel machined, although it probably depends on how bad it is, hope this helps.

They can definitely be machined, your Mitsi tech is full of BS! No surprise there.
Mine's on its second clutch and both times I had it machined.
