2016 MQ Triton Intake manifold clean

Postby Matt N on Thu May 27, 2021 6:24 pm

Hi all, new to this forum stuff. Thanks for having me.
I have recently bought a used 2016 MQ Triton GLS which has done 95,000km. I’ve just installed a western filters catch can but I’m wondering if I should get my intake manifold cleaned now the catch can is installed. At 95,000 km would there be a great deal of build up?
I have read a few threads about intake manifold cleans but am just unsure if it’s worth me paying for this to be done to prolong the engine.

TIA Matt.

MQ Does not suffer with intake clogging like the older tritons do. Easy to remove throttle body and have a look for yourself

Just 3 months ago bought 2016 MQ Triton Cab Chassis 73000k from a young diesel apprentice the Ute was very well looked after but was probably not driven hard enough. Straight off booked the Ute into my usual mechanic to get him to check EGR and manifold. It was chocked full with soot. Cleaned, New exhaust and remapped ECU different car, turbo now kicks in straight away, no lag and engine hums along with change to Penrite 5-40w oil.
So yes your engine is probably full of soot. Get it checked out!
