Well, shock horror..but expected.

2022 Triton is going to be a rebadged Nevara. Mercedes couldn't make it on that platform, so be interesting if new unit will bias to Mitsubishi or Renault/Pissan underpinnings?

Will super select survive?

There are a few articles about now.

No mention of Super Select anywhere. Will Nissan pick this up, or Triton get all coil suspension option?

Mitsubishi are in it, up to their necks. Recent figures say they're only making $400/vehicle while Toyota are kicking their tin with over $4000. With low volumes Mitsibishi are racing themselves to the bottom and paying the price for ceasing to innovate with new technology over the last 10 years, or more. Nissan, meanwhile, are not doing much better and the arranged menage a trois with Renault having very few really obvious advantages for anyone, least of all their customers.

Triton outsells Navara by some 60% here in Australia and Mitsubishi also have the Pajero Sport (which isn't) that sells another ~6000 units each year against a non-existent Nissan competitor. Just on volumes alone, the Triton based range has a clear advantage.

It's time to stop trying to sell to the bottom of the market and bring pricing up to even close to the levels that Toyota and Ford are demanding, and getting.

Yeah Mitsi has been bleeding for a while. Death of the real Pajero and now we say goodbye to the real Triton.
Just seems crazy to use the Navara platform rather than the Triton? Considering how much the Triton outsells Navara, why would they think this was a good idea. Do they think people won't notice?

They're all doing it. The VW Amarok is turning into a Fraud for 2023.

Problem is that most of the established manufacturers are in one form of 'stress' or another.

Mahindra starts looking an interesting option, if you don't want to go the Chinese path.

I'll have to hang onto the ML, until it appreciates like the old Commodores. Lol.

It is sad to see Mitsubishi go down this path. It was a few years back when they did a comparison test on both platforms, with the Triton platform out performing Nissan. There is no logic to this decision and they have just lost a customer in me. I have a MN which I like and was looking to upgrade in 23 or 24. Well that won't happen with a Triton. Now to work out what to do.

When you've had three Navaras in front, over a couple of days, belching black smoke everytime the driver touched the pedal, it doesn't inspire any confidence in the sh'boxes.

Mahindra has automatic, Auto electric lock-in diff. All it needs is all wheel drive.

Might be some hope.

Clips I've seen over the last few days show a pretty good looking Triton.

Also suggested, is that Mitsubishi lead the development of the new platform, shared with Nissan.

Can only hope a Mitsubishi power plant prevails.

Before poo pooing possible engine sizes, just consider the possibility that "climate governments" may tax the arse off vehicles with big engines in the near future.
