MR bullbar recommendations

Postby Hillbilly1000 on Wed Apr 07, 2021 6:32 pm

Hi there,

Picking up the new site pig next week, need to finish some stuff off.

What bullbar do you have on your MR? How do you like it?

Thanks!

Also keen to hear any feedback re this. I like the look of the ironman but just wonder about airflow. Saw a nice one from MCC that appeared to have more ventilation.
Am I over thinking it? Maybe.

I got the TJM Tradesman Bull bar with the LED day time driving lights + a winch, it's ok i guess does what it's supposed to do but does add that bit of extra weight over the front end so take that into account ;) Doesn't over heat or anything so far so good.

Ever noticed if somebody is driving slower than you is an idiot,
and anyone going faster than you is also an idiot?

There is an interesting thread in the 2015+ MQ/MR models regarding temperature issues with certain bullbars not having enough ventilation.
I got a Smartbar some time back. After installation I found they removed the Air Dams that assist in pushing air back into the radiator etc. That was a bit of a shock!
I my mind there is no doubt under towing or going up hills the temperature rises (ecu scanner) higher than it normally would, therefore the bullbar has had an effect. It cools down quickly once the pedal is off, and is OK on flat areas.
If I towed a van all the time, I would be considering a 3 core radiator to help.
In hindsight, doing only a few bush trips a year, I would not have installed bullbar. Look at the genuine Mitsy bars, which allow plenty of air into the front.
Good luck

I've solved my high temps in my Mr and ARB summit bbar
I've fitted a honeycomb grill it has dropped my running temps down by 10c it doesn't rise above 90c around town in winter ...time will tell in summer temps and towing my van sand work is a good test...that im Goto try soon at Stockton ...last winter temps were over 100c ...on the beach
