Vibration at idle ML 3.2

Postby Thongsbot3000 on Thu Jun 21, 2018 6:49 pm

Hi Folks,

ML 3.2
160K

Noticing a vibration at Idle, most notably when cold.
Doesn't matter if the car is stationary or cold takeoffs. I ran the OBD and no error codes. On the weekend i unplug battery for half hour to see if a re-learn would do anything, to no avail. I ran a test tonight and noted the following.

Cold start -Idles @ 735rpm, vibration at its worse
As i slowly rev up and the Vibration goes away instantly but then re-appears again at 1400rpm (harmonious)

Now the car is warm up, Idle has dropped back to 640-700 rpm and vibration has fairly well gone, even through the rev range, the car feels quite normal.

I had thoughts, maybe something is on its way out i.e harmonic balancer, Injector, Idle speed controller...

Any thoughts, Cheers

Swirl valves - I found it runs better with these disabled.

Clean SCV.

Fuel system - filter, air leaks

If you haven't, give it a dose of two stroke over a couple of tanks, can't hurt.
Don't let the b'strds get you down!!
