Proper CV Shaft

Postby MrCozy on Wed Apr 10, 2019 10:49 pm

Hi Guys...Ive had a look through the threads, and maybe its there, but am not seeing it. Am about to replace the left CV shaft, and looking through online, Im getting 2 different pricings most places. Sites are quoting for either sawtooth ABS ring, or squaretooth ABS ring...how to tell the difference before the shaft is out of the vehicle? Is an average of about $40 difference between the two. Cheers.

the abs ring should be visible from under the vehicle with the wheel attached

the abs configuration is pretty self explanatory by appearance

this is square, and what I have seen on my ML and other Ml tritons

I believe the gen 2 pajeros (from the 90's used sawtooth abs)

but make sure you take a look and confirm

The variables that vehicle manufacturers throw at us, who would have thought?

When I replaced mine, (first did a refurb but there was too much play for my liking), I went to Bursons, gave them the model of my Triton and went home with the right part. (About $200)

For the sake of a few dollars, I prefer to get these sort of bits over the counter, much easier.

Same deal with brakes, have someone accountable for the quality and suitability of the spare parts.

Thanks for the info guys. The prices quoted were from actual shops..repco, bursons, online ; was looking at sparesbox, but their website is useless
