Turbo Modifications for increased low end power

Postby MickeyDee on Fri Jul 12, 2019 1:18 pm

Hi

I have a 2014 MN Triton that has had a tune and exhaust. Mostly happy with the end result.

I'm not sure where the dyno sheet is anymore and can't remember the figures.

Still looking for better response lower rev range and overall power and torque.

I read somewhere about modifications to the stock turbo can produce a better response at a lower rev range?

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Mate, a search for "turbo" in the thread title gives 114 results. Maybe half on those relate to MNs and I note one very long thread with over a hundred replies. Plenty of reading for you right here.

At the end of the day, though, it's a small capacity turbo diesel and they come standard with no power until the turbo spools up. There are lots of suggestions in the link I gave you and some of those offer some improvements but, ultimately, more bottom end will come from increased capacity or increased rail pressure. The VGT in the MN does compensate somewhat but that can be improved a bit, too. Search for "Dawes valve".

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?
